![]() Trying to follow a 2.0.5 guide with Audacity 3.x may be a bit tricky, but with any 2.x version you are unlikely to have many problems. This was the first time in Audacity’s 20 year history that a breaking change was made to the project format - Audacity 3.x projects are not compatible (can’t be opened) in Audacity 2.x. The change from 2.4.2 to 3.0 was a big step that introduced the new. Version 2.4.2 is considerably more recent, and was the culmination of the 2.x series. Some menus items moved around between 2.0.5 and 2.4.2, but the Windows installer version (.exe) includes a very comprehensive manual (accessed through Audacity’s Help menu). Having said that, I’d recommend going with Audacity 2.4.2. Version 2.0.6 will be very similar to version 2.0.5. That is, it changed gradually through a process of refinement, enhancement, and optimisation, with bug fixes and new features added along the way. The development of the Audacity 2.x series was “evolutionary” rather than “revolutionary”. ![]()
